Olympic adopts five dogs

Gus Kenworthy and the five dogs he saved from their battle to survive on the streets of Sochi is now stuck in Russia waiting for paperwork to go through so he can bring the pups to their new homes in the U.S.

The 22-year-old, who lives in Telluride, Colorado, was scheduled to return home from Sochi on Monday. But he is working on the paperwork he needs to get done in order to take all five dogs back with him to the U.S.

After Gus tweeted a photo of himself with the puppies, animal lovers around the world sent their well wishes and their support.

The reaction to his kind act has almost gotten more attention than his medal win. Gus has already found homes for the dogs with family members and dogs. He plans on keeping one of the puppies for himself. When asked by CNN what he plans to name the puppy he’s not decided just yet. But two names he’s thought of are “Sochi” or “Silver”.
