What Is Prince’s Cause Of Death? Singer was ‘treated for drug overdose’ days before death

The Midwest Medical Examiners Office in Ramsey, Minnesota, will perform an autopsy Friday on the body of Prince.

The music superstar was found dead Thursday at his studio compound in suburban Minneapolis. The cause of death isn’t known. Authorities said deputies who were summoned to a medical emergency found him in an elevator, unresponsive, and CPR failed.

Prince’s death at age 57 has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans, with hundreds gathering outside his studio and in downtown Minneapolis and many more posting remembrances on social networks.

TMZ has reported that ‘multiple sources’ informed them that Prince had been treated for a drug overdose six days ago.

TMZ reported that the pop star’s jet made an emergency landing 48 minutes from its destination and at the time, Prince’s representatives said it was due to the 57-year-old suffering from the flu.

However, TMZ were informed them that the emergency landing was because Prince needed to be hospitalised, where he was administered a ‘save shot.’

The injection is ordinarily used to counteract the effects of opiates for people being treated for a drug overdose, TMZ reported that the Purple Rain singer left the hospital early and he was ‘not doing well’.

Prince’s sister is thanking fans who showed up at his suburban Minneapolis compound to mourn his death.

His sister, Tyka Nelson, emerged from the compound early Thursday evening to look at bouquets, balloons and signs left by fans of her brother, then approached the crowd of nearly 200.

Nelson told the fans that her brother “loved all of you. Thank you for loving him back.”
