Toronto Public Health Looking To Ban Mixing Alcohol and Energy Drinks, Report

Toronto Public Health is recommending that energy drinks not be sold along with alcohol at events on city property due to concerns about the harmful effects of mixing booze and caffeine.

The report says that mixed drinks like vodka Red Bull or a Jagerbomb can cause a person to feel more alert and mask how drunk they really are.

This leads some to drink more causing them to become more impaired resulting in them losing judgment.

The proposal would apply to events where organizers apply for a liquor permit.

That could range from events like wedding receptions to large gatherings like a street festival or Ribfest.
