Police are investigating after a stabbing near Yonge-Dundas Square sent a 33-year-old man to hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning.
Police said the victim was on Yonge Street at Edward Street shortly after midnight, walking and sending a text message on his phone, when he bumped into two men.
A heated argument ensued, during which one of the men produced a knife and stabbed the victim several times, piercing the victim’s heart. Police say the two men then fled the scene.
One of the attackers was arrested shortly after the incident.
Mohamed Ali, 27, of Toronto, is charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
Police are still searching for the second attacker. He is described as white, five-foot-eight-inches tall with short dark hair and a chin-strapped beard. He was wearing a black and white sweater.
Police believe he may be familiar to people who frequent the Yonge and Dundas Street West area or the Yonge and Gerrard streets area.
