Mark Cuban: Billionaire is thinking of running for president

Mark Cuban, who played the President of the United States in SyFy’s Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, said that Donald Trump‘s campaign for the 2016 GOP nomination has inspired him. In addition, the Dallas Mavericks owner told CNBC’s Eamon Javers that he could easily “crush” the New York real estate mogul if he were running.

When asked if he’d ever run for the nation’s highest office, Cuban wrote in an email to CNBC that he gets “asked every day.”

“It’s a fun idea to toss around. If I ran as a Dem, I know I could beat Hillary Clinton. And if it was me vs. Trump, I would crush him. No doubt about it,” Cuban told the news outlet.

Cuban said that Trump’s “three-comma” net worth likely explains his rough demeanor.

“Rich people just have a little more arrogance to think we know more than everyone else,” Cuban wrote to CNBC.

The billionaire also revealed why he thinks Trump might be dominating in the polls.

“Most future voters will get their news from their Facebook, Snapchat, Cyber Dust, Instagram, Twitter feeds,” Cuban said. “They open their apps and see what’s there. They don’t go looking for depth and explanations.”

“If you as a candidate can’t find your way into those feeds, you basically don’t exist,” he added.

Cuban said that if he were to run as president he would focus on cybersecurity, college debt, and the tax code, among other things.

The Dallas Mavericks owner later clarified to CNN that he has no interest in seeking the presidency and was just speculating what would happen if he threw his hat in the race.

“I have no interest in running,” he said.

And despite his brash prediction, Cuban did have warm words for Trump ahead of his speech in Dallas Monday evening.
