Jennifer Lopez wished her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, well upon hearing that the singer had gotten engaged to model Shannon De Lima.
‘I’m happy for him,’ Jennifer told the New York Daily News on Thursday.
The 45-year-old I Luh Ya Papi hitmaker married the singer in 2004 immediately following her split from Ben Affleck, but they’ve been separated since 2011. And although their divorce was only finalised five months ago, J-Lo isn’t bothered by Marc’s new engagement to girlfriend Shannon De Lima.
Marc proposed to Shannon in March, although the news only broke this week. Their wedding is reportedly taking place this month in the Dominican Republic. Jennifer wanted to make it clear that although she’s alone now, she plans to following in her ex’s footsteps one day soon.
“I am totally single. It’s not going to be forever,” she assured the publication. “Someone great will come along.”
Jennifer Lopez has been touring the country promoting her new memoir True Love, which sees her opening up about her love life. It includes information about how her marriage to Marc failed. The songstress also reveals Ben Affleck was her “first real heartbreak” and alludes to Marc being somewhat of a rebound.
“Marc came back into my life three days after I should have been at the altar saying ‘I do’ to another man,” she writes in her book. “Thinking back, maybe deep down I knew that this was a Band-Aid on the cut, that my wound hadn’t been stitched or healed.”
Prior to her relationships with Ben and Marc, J-Lo was married to Ojani Noa from 1997 until 1998, and dancer Cris Judd from 2001 until 2002. Following Marc, she dated choreographer Casper Smart from 2011 until June 2014.
Jennifer and Marc have six-year-old twins Max and Emme together.
