A 10- to 12-foot great white shark was spotted on Alligator Reef off Islamorada on Saturday, circling a charter snorkeling boat for about 30 to 45 minutes.
The captain of the HappyCat, Chris Muller, told The Herald that the snorklers on the boat had just gone into the water when a member of the crew noticed the shark in the water.
Muller quickly pulled all 13 of the foreign tourists out of the water on Alligator Reef.
Muller then dove in the water himself to verify that it was indeed a great white and to record video, which he then posted to YouTube.
In the same weekend, another great white shark was sighted near Key West by the Bulldog Cartel fishing team. The team reportedly shot video of the animal and posted it to Instagram on April 16, WPTV News reported.
