Couple weds after 68 years? Nearly seven decades after they dated as teenagers, Gray And Hatch are getting married.

For many, today could not have been a more romantic day to get married. For one local couple it was worth waiting nearly 70 years for.

It’s been 68 years since Frank Gray and Ada Hatch shared a kiss

Both now 85 years old, they dated as teenagers for just six months, until another boy came into the picture.

Ada stands by that it was a big misunderstanding.

But Frank says there’s good reason he couldn’t call her.

Ada says they grew apart and broke things off.

Both married other people and built families of their own, but living on the island, they still saw each other from time to time.

Though it wasn’t until more than 60 years went by, after Frank’s wife had passed away, that he gave Ada, another call.

After a third call to say “yes” to dinner, Frank took Ada out for her birthday.

She said spending time with Frank just felt right.

That was in November.

Before long, Frank was asking Ada to be his bride.

The couple decided on a Valentine’s Day wedding, a chance to include their families and a special date for Ada, who’s parents were married on the same day.

Frank and Ada plan to spend their days swimming at the YMCA together, and just enjoying each others company at her home, in Salisbury Cove.

    1. Congratulations to the happy couple! I know of a similarly fascinating story wherein a couple married each other after 40 years of not speaking to each other even though their respective farms adjoined each other. As it happened the groom’s guy friends had gotten him so drunk on the night before the wedding that he missed the wedding altogether, leaving the poor bride alone at the altar. Being of course, greatly insulted and embarrassed, she never spoke to him again until 40 years later, when my late father, an AME pastor, married them.

    2. What a wonderful story, just never too late for Love..go for it and have a hell of a party !!!
