Colorado pile up: Denver Crash Kills 1

1 killed and 30 injured in massive pileup in Colorado It happened on Interstate 25 as a band of heavy snow moved through south Denver on Saturday.

The collision occurred just before 10:40 a.m. at I-25 and Logan and stopped traffic across all lanes for nearly five hours. The highway reopened at about 3:45 p.m.

Witness Travis Rosenbloom, who was not injured in the crash, says traffic was flowing despite the low visibility when the crash happened.

“People [were] trying to hit their brakes to come to a sudden stop [and] started smashing into each other in front of me, directly to my right, and behind me,” he said. “I was in the far left lane. I personally saw at least six cars smash into each other. Luckily I was over far enough to not get hit.”

Twenty people were hospitalized as a result of the pileup. The victims are said to be adults and children, according to Denver Health Chief Paramedic Scott Bookman.

The crash was made up of two pileups within the area of I-25 along Broadway to Logan Street.

It was expected to be closed for at least three hours.

People who were not injured were transported by RTD bus to give statements to investigators.
