Amanda Bruce: I knew Charlie Sheen had HIV… but we still had unprotected sex for eight months

A nurse named Amanda Bruce came forward to explain why she had unprotected sex with Charlie Sheen during the eight months they dated, despite the actor’s HIV status.

Amanda Bruce dated the Two And A Half Men actor for eight months and broke her silence on The Dr. Oz Show. Appearing alongside Charlie’s physician Dr. Robert Huizenga, the nurse said she was well aware of his condition when they slept together.

“I knew the risks and that’s why I wasn’t so afraid,” she said. “HIV has a big stigma attached to it from before there was a treatment for it and it was a death sentence. Nowadays, you can deal with it by using medication.”

She added: “We became intimate, initially we weren’t unprotected but then we were unprotected. We decided to be exclusive and we had a conversation about that.”

“When you really love someone you want to get close to them. That was something I wanted to share with him,” she said.

Dr. Robert added that Amanda consulted him about the decision first and said that she took Pre-exposure prophylaxisto (PrEP) to lower her risk.

He said on the show: “I was the doctor for her boyfriend, we called in other doctors and they felt the risk of transmission if she took the prophylaxis and he had undetectable level was miniscule. We can’t say it’s zero.

“I think my advice to her was, ‘Don’t do it, but the risk is miniscule.'”

“She elected to then go forward because she felt so close and wanted that level of intimacy.”

Amanda added: “If I had met him on one night, and we had decided to engage in this, I’d say, ‘That’s Russian Roulette.'”
