2 workers stuck on scaffolding 69 stories high at World Trade Center site

2 workers, who became trapped on scaffolding near the 68th floor of One World Trade Center, have been rescued.

Workers were able to cut through a window to save the window washers, something an NYPD source told CNN that they originally tried to do, but failed because the second pane of glass was too thick.

The ordeal — caught on live TV as news cameras rolled — began when one of the cables holding the scaffolding snapped, causing the platform to malfunction.

The scaffolding is about 68 floors up, according to the New York City Fire Department.
