World Cup 2014 – Group B : Spain Vs Netherlands

Spain starts the defence of its world title against the Netherlands, whom they had beaten in the 2010 World Cup final. On impressive form during the playoffs but less inspiring over the last few months, “La Roja” (The Reds) are looking to take this opportunity to remind everyone that they are one of the big favourites for the title. But Vicente Del Bosque’s men will have a tough battle against the “Oranjes” who, although still a work in progress, remain capable of anything up front thanks to the attacking duo of Robben and Van Persie. Sparks should fly in this first huge 100% European clash of the World Cup!

The key points of the match

Spain has won 6 of its last 9 official matches.
The average age of the first-choice Dutch defenders is only 24, and none of them play for a major club. They could pay dearly for this lack of experience against Spain…
The Spaniards are quite simply better in all departments and also have better options on the subs’ bench.

Our Prediction for Spain Netherlands

The Netherlands are not yet the finished article and haven’t managed to put together a strong squad since the Euro 2012 fiasco. Much too inexperienced in defence, the Dutch should logically be dominated by an attractive Spanish side. A win for Spain.
