Woman catches groping man on Canada Line (Video)

More than 48 hours after a UBC student named Kathy snapped a photo of an alleged groping taking place on the Canada Line, authorities are still making a plea for the victim to come forward.

A UBC student saw the whole thing and took a picture, which is making the rounds online.

The student says she saw a man in a crowded car rubbing his hand up and down the victim’s legs and butt. The student told transit police and they spoke with the suspect, but because the victim hasn’t been found, they can’t proceed. This witness posted her story on the UBC Confessions Facebook page.

Anne Drennan with Transit Police says finding this woman is important. “The suspect, once charged, receives conditions that don’t allow him to be at least on that portion of the transit system which ensures the safety not only of the victim, but of any other women who are on that portion of the system.”

UBC RCMP have also been notified as they investigate an on-campus assault with a similar suspect description.

The victim is described as an Asian woman somewhere between 18 and 25 years old with black straight hair and bangs. She was wearing a grey sweater, a black T-shirt, black, ripped jeans. She had on a Gucci backpack and was carrying a pink iPhone.

The suspect is described as a middle-aged, tanned Asian man. He was wearing blue jeans and a camouflage jacket.
