The trucker involved in the crash that shut down the Burlington Skyway over the August long weekend will appear in court again today.
34 year old Sukhvinder Singh Rai of Brampton is charged with impaired driving and having a blood alcohol level over 80 milligrams.
On Thursday July 31, Rai was driving a dump truck on the Toronto-bound QEW. The truck’s bucket was raised as it climbed the Burlington Skyway and it snagged the scaffolding on the under-construction bridge.
The damage was so extensive, Toronto-bound lanes were closed through the Civic Holiday weekend.
Rai’s lawyer David Locke tells Newstalk 1010 he expects to have more information on potential new charges against his client late on Friday afternoon. OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says the investigation of the crash is on-going.
Rai has plead not guilty to the charges already laid against him. He could face new charges when his case returns to court in Hamilton on Wednesday.

“The punishment should probably fit the crime,” said Panchuk. “And I look back and think about the hundreds of thousands of people that were inconvenienced, and the amount of damage that was probably caused. Somebody has to be held accountable and responsible for.”
