Lorenzo Giordano: Man linked to Rizzuto clan shot dead in Laval

Known Montreal Mafia member Lorenzo Giordano, 52, had been in prison for two years, serving a 15-year sentence, when he was transferred to a different prison in 2011 to ensure his own protection.

Multiple sources say Giordano was hit with several bullets at around 8:45 a.m. near the Carrefour Multisports in the Chomedey district, across the street from the Carrefour Laval mall.

Giordano, who’s been linked to the Rizzuto crime family, had recently completed a prison term. He was moved from prison to a halfway house last December.

The shooting victim was taken to hospital in serious condition. Police confirmed he had died just before 1 p.m.

The investigation has been transferred to the SQ’s major crime unit.

The gym and a nearby daycare have been closed.
