Winnipeg police arrest 10 as part of Checkstop campaign

The second week of the Winnipeg police festive checkstop program has turned up 10 more impaired driving charges.

In total, 1,860 vehicles were stopped by police during the week, with one of the impaired driving arrests being made for drug use. Four 72-hour driver’s license suspensions were also handed out, as were 38 tickets for various other offences.

“Taking a cab or a bus, contacting Operation Red Nose or simply identifying a designated driver, are some options to consider,” police said in a release.
