Wildfire disrupts nuptials (Video)

It’s the wedding photo seen ‘round the world.
Michael Wolber and his new bride April stand on a deserted highway as a plume of smoke billows out behind them.

It’s a day Wolber’s aunt, Juliana Wood, will never forget. She said the picture is like a scene from a movie.

“I’d call it an all-time low. It was announced that we were going to be evacuated,” Michael Wolber told KPTV Fox 12 in Portland.

Just when all appeared lost, the firefighters were convinced by the parents to allow the ceremony to continue. But it needed to happen quickly.

“We got to hear the ranch manager Kelly come down, waving her arms saying, ‘We can do it. We can do the ceremony!’” Michael Wolber told the television station.

The couple did just that – finishing the ceremony in half the time. And then all were evacuated to a backup reception location in Bend’s Drake Park.

But before they left, the newlyweds took a few more minutes to have their photographer snapped a few memorable photos of them with the fire raging behind them. “We wouldn’t change a single thing about the way yesterday went off,” Michael Wolber told television.
