UK man gets hit by bus, gets up and walks into bar (Video)

A man struck by a careening bus while walking down a street in the UK has been filmed collectedly rising and walking into a pub.

CCTV video has emerged of a man being hit by a bus in England and then casually walking into a nearby pub.

Fifty-three-year-old Simon Smith is seen walking across a quiet road in Berkshire, southern England on Saturday morning, when an out of control bus mounted the pavement before hitting him and throwing Smith along the sidewalk.

The footage shows Smith being flung six metres into the air and sliding across the sidewalk, as the bus skids across the path – barely missing nearby buildings and a light pole.

Smith spoke with The Sun Newspaper, he said he makes that journey every Saturday.

“I didn’t think anything of it. But then I heard some banging behind me and I was hit from behind,” he said.

Smith escaped being crushed by the bus but some debris from nearby buildings crash around him before he gets up and calmly walks into a nearby pub, the Purple Turtle.

He said that despite what people think, he didn’t go into the pub for a beer.

“After it I just wanted to get somewhere safe. It’s quite funny everybody think I have gone for a pint. I was actually looking for a place of refuge when I went into the doorway of the pub.”

According to local media reports, he walked away with only minor injuries after being taken to hospital for assessment.

Gun Street in Reading, where the crash occurred, is one black away from a busy strip of cafes and shops. The whole street was closed for two hours as police investigated the incident.

According to Thames Valley police, no arrests have been made and the bus driver has been taken off the road pending the investigation.

The Purple Turtle tweeted the CCTV footage and assured customers they’re still open.
