Thirstie alcohol delivery app launches in Ottawa, Toronto

A new smartphone app hopes to convince more Canadians to stay at home when they’re shopping for a bottle of wine.

With delivery in one hour or less and a small convenience fee, Thirstie makes purchasing your favorite spirit, beer or wine as simple as a few taps or clicks. You can search on your phone or computer for your favorite brands—or discover new ones.

“Our customers appreciate how fast and easy the Thirstie experience is,” said founder and CEO Devaraj Southworth. “We’re excited to introduce this same experience to the Canadian market, with Toronto and Ottawa leading the way as their cocktail and beer culture is booming.”

Canadians looking for inspiration for their next party, cocktail hour, or evening by the fire can turn to Thirstie’s recently launched editorial platform, The Craft, to discover the latest in mixology, hosting tips and booze news. Thirstie is a pioneer in the content-to-commerce marketplace, leading people through the alcohol discovery and purchase process (55% being repeat customers) with engaging content. Through The Craft, brands large and small like VEEV Vodka, SIA Scotch and MAVEN Cocktails, get the opportunity to authentically connect and build lasting relationships with their target audience via interesting, educational content.

Since November 2014, Thirstie has experienced 34% month-over-month customer growth, and expanded into 20 markets, with Ontario being the latest expansion. Average order growth has increased 30% with the typical order in the $75 range. In addition, their mobile application currently receives over 25k monthly downloads and is consistently ranked in the top 100 apps in the food & beverage category in the iTunes storefront.

The app is currently only available for Android, but an iPhone version will be rolled out later this week.
