Carrie Underwood toured the world and starred in the TV production of The Sound of Music in 2013, but her 2014 is off to a much less glamorous start. Carrie has spent the past few days volunteering at an animal shelter, where one of the puppies left her a little surprise on her sweatshirt.

Wearing a gray hoodie and a black cap, Underwood shared a video with fans via Vine, revealing that she has been cleaning pens and even got a smidge of poop on her shoulder, all the while flashing a sheepish smile. Clearly, the ‘Blown Away’ star got her hands and her shirt dirty.

But judging from the pictures and knowing her dedication to animals, she loved every gross second of it.
After her rigorous (and incredibly successful) turn as Maria in the live production of ‘The Sound of Music’ on NBC during the holidays, Underwood is probably enjoying some downtime and decompressing in the company of animals in need.
While at the shelter, Underwood enjoyed smooches with pooches, writing: “One is trying to kiss me while one is trying to rip my scarf off! #ShelterDogs #Volunteering.”
