Five people were found shot dead in a home in Arizona in a possible murder-suicide, local media reported.
Tucson police officers responded to a call and found the bodies in the single-storey home on Tuesday night, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
He told the Associated Press that all the victims had “obvious signs of gunshot trauma.”
Police said because it suspects that the case was a murder-suicide incident, authorities are not actively searching for anyone.
Investigators, however, were still at the residence on the city’s south side late Tuesday and they were not releasing any other information, including the identities and ages of the victims.
“They are trying to figure what took place. Right now it appears it was a murder-suicide, but it’s (the investigation) is in its initial stages,” Dugan said.
According to The Arizona Daily Star, no young children were among the dead who have been shot sometime on Tuesday.
Gun-related casualties have turned into a “major public health problem” in the US, said a study published by eight US medical associations in February.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 11,000 people are killed with a firearm each year in the United States.
