Sarah Jessica Parker and her co-star Blythe Danner take their curtain call bows after a performance of their new off-Broadway play The Commons of Pensacola on Sunday (November 10) at the Manhattan Theater Club in New York City.

The plot revolves around Sarah’s character confronting her mother over the financial crimes committed by her father, which have been compared to those of real-life stockbroker Bernard Madoff who has been incarcerated for orchestrating a massive Ponzi scheme.

Sarah was wearing a tight grey dress during the curtain call as she held hands with Gwyneth Paltrow’s mother Blythe who was costumed in a tan pant suit and light blue button-down blouse.

Sarah launched her career on Broadway way back in 1979 as little orphan Annie.
She has since enjoyed a high-profie television career that included early work on Square Pegs and her longtime stint as Carrie Bradshaw on Sex And The City.

The Commons of Pensacola was written by actress turned playwright Amanda Peet.

The 41-year-old writer made a point of securing Sarah for the role.

‘I was fairly persistent in stalking Sarah Jessica Parker for this role and wrote her several notes, it’s really embarrassing. And eventually she relented probably because she was afraid,’ Amanda recently told

The show is set to run through January 26, 2014 at New York City Center – Stage I. It also stars Michael Stahl-David as Sarah’s beau.
