Rowan Atkinson has put his beloved McLaren F1 sports car on the market for a cool $15 Million.
The Blackadder star said it was “time for it (the car) to be enjoyed by someone else” having bought it new nearly two decades ago. “I bought it for the quality of the thinking that went into its design, and now it has become a thing of value, it is time for it to be enjoyed by someone else,” he told the Daily Telegraph’s Cars motoring supplement.
It took nearly a year for the car to be repaired after Atkinson crashed it into a tree and a lamppost on the A605 in Haddon, Cambridgeshire August 2011. The cost of repairs was the highest ever recorded in Britain at the time.
The car, which Atkinson says “is so quiet, so comfortable that you can use it – and enjoy it – anywhere”, has done just 41,000 miles on the clock which Atkinson reveals were clocked up mainly going to the shops and doing the school run.
