Quebec Woman Sues Google Because Her Breasts Were Shown On Google Street View

A Montreal woman has won a small-claims lawsuit against Google for its “flagrant abuse of her right to a private life, the protection of her image and of her dignity” after a Street View camera caught a glimpse of her breast.

The photo was taken when the Google Street View car , with a 360 degree camera mounted on it’s roof, passed in front of the woman’s home on a warm, sunny day in May of 2009.

It just so happened that the woman was sitting on her front steps at the time, checking her e-mail.

The photo was discovered by co-workers whom she says then made a series of derogatory comments.

She says she eventually quit her job to escape the torment.

The Journal de Montreal reports Google tried to defend itself saying the woman had given up her right to privacy by being outside, but the judge wasn’t having any of that and ordered the company to cough up the cash.

In early October, a Quebec small-claims court granted the woman a $2,250 settlement — less than a third of the $7,000 she was asking for — plus interest and $159 in court fees.
