Money confiscated during a police operative is shown in Panama City, capital of Panama, on Jan. 13, 2014. State security elements captured three Honduran citizens, that tried to carry into the country 7M. dollars, by the Tocumen International Airport, during an operation named “Energy”, according to the Drug Prosecutor, Javier Caraballo.

A police statement says the three men flew in from the Honduras capital of Tegucigalpa and had the suitcases with them when they were detained.

Panamanian authorities say officers found bundles of $100 bills in hidden compartments inside the suitcases.

Panama is a known money-laundering hub for drug cartels in Latin America.
