London man clocked going 197 km/h on Highway 401 near Chatham

Driver have been charged with stunt driving for excessive speeding in Leamington and Chatham.

A 20-year-old London man has been charged with stunt driving after police say he was caught driving nearly twice the posted speed limit Friday on Highway 401.

Just before 1 a.m., an OPP officer spotted a speeding Honda Civic on the westbound side of the highway, near Queens Line in Chatham-Kent.

A news release says the vehicle was clocked at 197 km/h on a radar gun.

The man’s driver’s licence has been suspended and his vehicle has been impounded.
