Lawsuit Reveals Cold-FX Does Nothing to Fight Colds (Video)

The popular herbal cold remedy Cold-FX is no better than a placebo a treating colds, and the manufacturer has known that for more than a decade, alleges a lawsuit before the B.C. Supreme Court.

A 2004 trial conducted by Dr. Gerry Predy, a top Alberta public-health official, found that one of Canada’s most well-known cold and flu remedies was no better than a placebo when it came to treating symptoms.

Cold-FX has long argued that their product brings quick and fast relief from the worst parts of the common ailments that plague mankind.

Neither Predy nor Afexa Life Sciences (which was purchased by Valeant Pharmaceuticals in 2011) publicly revealed the results.

Lawyer John Green, who is spearheading a class action lawsuit against Valeant, felt that “if it had been disclosed, it would probably have been the end of Afexa Life Sciences.”

Cold-FX’s packaging makes no mention of how long the drug has to be taken to be effective, the Globe noted.
