Kristen Bell Reveals ‘Veronica Mars’ Movie footage (VIDEO)

Veronica Mars fans know of Piz as the guy who got in the way of LoVe. On the other hand, Piz is a much more reasonable option for our girl detective than the tortured soul that is Logan Echolls. Then again…LOGAN.

In new footage from the upcoming Veronica Mars movie, Kristen Bell, Jason Dohring, and Chris Lowell (along with other VM favorites) discuss their love triangle and who should come out on top. We learn that at the start of the movie, Veronica is — wait for it — DATING PIZ. I was not expecting that, but then again, there has to be some way to explain why Lowell’s character attends the Neptune High 10-year reunion. Logan, meanwhile, is accused of murder — you know, classic bad-boy stuff.

According to Moviefone, the film adaptation of the series features the cast 10 years after Mars (Kristen Bell) has graduated from Neptune High School. Veronica is now a successful lawyer in New York, and comes back to her hometown to attend her high school reunion. The trailer features the drama-laden high school reunion, a cameo by Jamie Lee Curtis and Veronica’s potentially romantic reunion with former flame Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls). The trailer also features Veronica decking her old enemy, Madison Sinclair (Amanda Noret).

The film would not have come to fruition without the help from legions of fans of the cult show. The idea for the film, which is still untitled, was brought to Kickstarter in March by creator Rob Thomas in an effort to raise money to complete the project. Once marshmallows caught wind of the project, the response was overwhelming. The film raised $5.7 million from over 90,000 backers. Some of movie’s donors were even given the privilege to be extras in the film, which was shot in a mere 23 days.

The New York Daily News reports that Bell was blown away by the support of the show’s fans.
“Fans are cool, but ‘Veronica Mars’ fans are awesome,” Bell says. “That’s just kind of the way it works.”

The series, which ran from 2005-2007, focused on popular high school girl Veronica Mars (Bell) in the affluent seaside town of Neptune, California after the murder of Lily Kane, her best friend. The murder prompted her ousting from her group of ostensible friends. Her father, the town’s sheriff, was then voted out of his job after he made some controversial accusations about the deceased girl’s family. The ousting was the impetus for Mr. Mars to open his own private detective agency. Veronica joined her father as an assistant, and became a sarcastic, 21st century Nancy Drew, solving mysteries while navigating adolescence.
