Ghostbuster Leslie Jones Returns to Twitter After Website Hack

A good-spirited Leslie Jones has made a comeback on Twitter after trolls bullied and hacked her account.

“I love Golden Girls!” the “Saturday Night Live” and “Ghostbusters” star, who turns 49 on Wednesday, tweeted Saturday, uploading a video clip of the opening of the 1985-1992 NBC comedy hit “The Golden Girls,” starring Bea Arthur, Estelle Getty, Betty White and Rue McClanahan as four older women sharing a house in Miami. “I don’t care what nobody say — these [expletive] make me laugh no matter what the hell is going on,” Jones says in the background. “For real.”

She soon added other tweets, comically referencing Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, the HBO sitcom “Vice Principals” and the DC Comics / Vertigo series “100 Bullets,” a revenge-driven crime drama in which victims and other wronged parties are given a gun and a briefcase containing 100 rounds of untraceable bullets. “Man if I had this briefcase…,” Jones joked.

On Sunday, the comedian directly addressed her absence from Twitter. “Thanks to my fans and friends!” she wrote. “I’m soooooo ok really. And I will always be funny been through a lot in my life and I ALWAYS GET BACK UP!”

Jones’ Instagram account has remained untouched for approximately three weeks, and her most recent Facebook post was on July 28.

On July 21, Jones returned to Twitter after a three-day break after enduing a barrage of racist comments, which ultimately led to an intervention by the site’s co-founder and the banning of a right-wing technology editor for helping encourage the abuse. Then on Aug. 24, Jones took down her website after hackers evidently accessed her smartphone or iCloud and posted nude photographs and images of her passport and California driver’s license. They added a video of Harambe, the gorilla killed by zookeepers in Ohio earlier this year. Racist Twitter trolls had compared Jones to Harambe in July.
