Gerson Galvez: ‘Peru’s most wanted fugitive’ arrested in Colombia

Peru drug trafficker Gerson Galvez was arrested at a shopping center in Medellin, Colombia on Saturday.

Colombian law enforcement arrested one of the main Peruvian criminal authorities, Gerson Galvez Calle nicknamed Caracol (the Snail), Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos said.

Gavez Calle was reportedly arrested late on Saturday in a restaurant in the city of Medellin in Western Colombia.

“Congratulations @PoliciaColombia for capturing in Medellin Peru’s ‘Caracol,’ one of the most feared drug lords in the region,” the Colombian leader said on Twitter.

Peruvian authorities have compared Gaves Calle to infamous Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, referring to him as “the new El Chapo.”
