Florida teen kills brother, self after food fight : sheriff says

Florida – A YOUNG teenager has killed his six-year-old brother and wounded an older sibling before turning the gun on himself during an argument over food.

The three brothers were home alone and started squabbling over dinner when the 13-year-old grabbed a handgun and shot his two siblings before killing himself, police in Pasco County said.

Officers received a call about the shooting at 6.19pm local time on Wednesday in the city of Hudson, some 45 miles (72km) north of Tampa.

The older brother was taken to a hospital and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said in a statement.

The names of the children were not released by authorities.

“This is a horrific scene,” Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco said.

“This is a nightmare when you hear about the ages of these boys, a six-year-old that was probably playing in his room, an argument over food and he lost his life.”

The Tampa Bay Times said that the children’s mother was at work and a fourth son, who is 18 years old, was not at the house.

    1. Someone needs to NOT HAVE ANYMORE KIDS IF YOU CAN’T PROVIDE PROPER CARE AND SUPERVISION !! Moron of a mother….and where the F*CK is the dad in all of this ?? What a tragedy.

      • You are completely off base. Until you know the person you are passing judgment on, keep your ignorant mouth shut! This is a good family!! And I’m sure this comes as a surprise to you, but you cant believe everything in the news!!

    2. It is the guns-what a stupid waste.

      • No – the gun did not just up and shoot eveyone – it had to be aimed and the trigger pulled so it is indeed the kids fault. However, it is also and more importantly THE PARENTS fault – Florida has laws regarding guns stored around kids.

But having guns in the home makes your kids safer, right?
Isn’t that how gun nuts justify keeping deadly weapons around children?

      • So totally agree with you.

      • Mary & Eerie, are you two crazy? Gun Nuts? Do you know how many guns are in homes? Do you know how many children are in homes? When children argue, do you really think their first thought is to kill their siblings? Most of us “children” that were raised with guns in our homes, were taught respect at a very young age. Respect for others, respect for weapons, and taught about the responsibilities of guns. Our first thought was not to grab a gun and handle the problem that way. Most of us were also raised with parents who locked up their weapons. Most of us were also taught about personal safety, and what to do if someone was trying to enter our homes. Most of us also had parents at home, and not out drinking at night. We had parents that were raised to know that once you had children, your children came first., they did not come after all your other problems. So do you two crazies think that if there was no gun in the home, would the child have then stabbed his siblings to death? maybe kitchen knives should be taken out of the home also. I am a 55 year old female, who was raised to RESPECT others, respect weapons, and yes, I do have a gun in my home, and know how to use it, and when.
