Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Gets a Live Action Trailer (Watch)

If you want to know what’s changed in the world of Deus Ex since Human Revolution, then this trailer will fill in the blanks.

The live-action Mankind Divided trailer outlines the shift from the golden era of augmentation to the current Mechanical Apartheid.

Featured above, the “Mechanical Apartheid” trailer showcases the games controversial and yet ambitious approach to a near-future in which augmented humans are ostracized from regular human life, following the golden age of human augmentation.

This somewhat stems from the earlier events in the game’s universe, which Square Enix detailed:

In 2027, mechanically-augmented people all over the world suffered from extreme psychotic delusions, lost control of themselves, and started attacking people. Millions died. Hundreds of thousands more were injured and maimed.

In the wake of this global catastrophe, society has become divided by hatred, prejudice, and fear, with many countries now enacting harsh laws. The most notable of these laws is the highly controversial “Human Restoration Act”, aimed at isolating “Augs” and keeping them away from “Naturals”.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was originally pencilled in for a February 23 launch, but was recently pushed back by a full six months until August 23. It’s in development for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
