Columbia University Student Missing For 10 days, Report

A Columbia University student is missing, authorities said. Nayla Kidd, 19, an engineering undergrad, was last seen on May 5, 2016, at about 5 p.m., the NYPD said.

The Columbia University Public Safety Department said that on May 11 it was informed that her friends and family hadn’t heard from her in days.

Columbia released a statement about Kidd’s disappearance and friends and family have created a Facebook page and are trying to spread the message around social media.

“Our community is deeply concerned whenever a student is missing,” the Columbia statement read. “The University is in contact with Nayla Kidd’s family and is cooperating with the New York Police Department. We are working together to locate Nayla and urge anyone with any information that would be helpful to contact Columbia Public Safety at 212-854-5555 or the NYPD 26th Precinct Detective Squad at 212-678-1351.”

Kidd’s mother, La Creis Kidd, is a professor at the University of Louisville. The two are very close, and the younger Kidd is described as being “loving and sweet-spirited,” according to the Post article.

The New York Post reported that Nayla Kidd graduated from the Thacher School, a prestigious college prep school in Southern California near Santa Barbara.
