Ever wondered how much data a company could gather on you with nothing more than a first name and a Facebook Like?.
This social experiment created by fraud prevention company Cifas shows just how much information can be gleaned in seconds from things you voluntarily put online.
The company took over a coffee shop and asked customers to “Like” the shop’s Facebook page for a free coffee.
Using earpieces, company representatives fed a scary amount of personal data about customers to baristas. The coffee shop employees then spooked the customers with all of the personal information they penned on the guests’ drink cups.
So the next time your crazy uncle warns you about Big Brother, listen to the advice.
