Canadian inventor William Liddiard claims to have developed omni-directional wheels for your car which will allow you to crab sideways for parking and tight manoeuvring..
The new invention has been designed to bolt on to any car currently for sale.
According to the man who designed the wheel and tyre package, William Liddiard, his invention is the world’s first omnidirectional wheels.
In the past, similar wheels have featured on wacky motor show concept cars but, according to Liddiard, his technology has been developed for real production vehicles driving in real-world conditions.
For example, in wet conditions the Liddiard offers similar grip levels to a conventional tyre.
Speaking to Wired.co.uk, Liddiard says the vehicles his wheel and tyres have been created for need no special modifications or adaptation for the technology to work.
Liddiard is not revealing quite how his omnidirectional tyres can be steered sideways but says the tech is ready and he is seeking a company to partner with him to help push the technology into production.
