Canada Elections 2015: Uber offers free rides to polls for new customers

Uber announced it would offer new users free rides to and from polling stations in the Canadian cities where it operates.

Uber confirmed the free ride for voters initiative early Monday morning. The company said any new users interested needs to install the Uber app, and enter the promo code “CanadaVOTES”. They will be credited $15 for a ride to the polls and another $15 to return home afterwards.

The incentive is only the latest offering to lure new riders to Uber, which has been massively controversial since its introduction to the Ottawa market last year.

The company regularly offers incentives to encourage new users of its taxi-like services.
