California Woman trapped in chimney rescued then arrested

That’s not Santa Claus: A woman was arrested Sunday after getting trapped inside the chimney of a Thousand Oaks, California, home of a man she once dated.

Residents on Woodside Drive called police at about 5:45 a.m. Sunday to report the sound of a woman crying in the area.

Upon arrival, Genoveva Nunez-Figueroa was found lodged inside the chimney by Ventury County emergency responders. Authorities said the fireplace had to be “carefully” dismantled in order to free Nunez-Figueroa.

She was eventually rescued and taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center for injuries.

Thousand Oaks Police Department determined that Figueroa climbed into the chimney from the roof to illegally enter the home.

Figueroa was arrested on charges of illegal entry and providing false information to an officer.
