Bruce Jenner $500000 Wreck Car : Bruce lucky to be alive after crash

Racing in the Baja 1000 can be an expensive pursuit. As Bruce Jenner and his son Burt found out, crashing in the Baja 1000 can be even costlier.

According to TMZ, the Jenners crashed their $500,000 truck into a ditch along Mile 170 of the endurance race. They made it a little over 15 percent of the way through the more than 1,000-mile journey.

“It’s known as one of the toughest off road races in the world, if not the toughest,” he explained to E! News. “I started the race as the driver with my dad as the navigator. We got a flat tire at mile 140. We were supposed to switch the driver and navigator position at mile 160, so we made a decision to make the change a little earlier. My dad got in the driver seat and unfortunately had crashed the car.”

Burt added that they were going around 40mph at the time of the accident. They father-and-son duo reportedly made it out without any serious injuries.

“We rolled the truck kind of on its side and had to climb out. We were able to get the truck back together after a couple hour wait out in the desert,” Burt continued, adding that they “made it all the way to mile 207” before throwing the towel in.

He said, “Because we had so much of the race still left to do and we were so far behind, the team owner said it was time to call it quits and pulled the plug.”

Though they lost the race, Burt said that the ride — both figuratively and literally — was “definitely a cool experience and chance of a lifetime.”
