Boa Constrictor in Toilet: Snake Slithers Into Downtown PR Firm’s Toilet

Boa constrictor slinks out of San Diego toilet? Two women experienced the stuff of nightmares this week when they found a 5-foot boa constrictor emerging from a toilet in downtown office building.

“I thought my eyes were deceiving me,” said Stephanie Lacsa, co-founder of Vertical PR + Marketing in downtown San Diego. “But as soon as I saw the flicker of its tongue, I definitely knew that it was, in fact, a large snake heading straight towards me.”

Like many people, Lacsa hates snakes.

“I ran out of the bathroom screaming louder than I’d like to admit and taped the door shut,” she said.

Animal control officers eventually captured the Colombian rainbow boa and took it to their Gaines Street shelter for an examination.

If no one claims the Colombian rainbow boa – which was underweight and in the process of shedding when discovered – it will be turned over to a group that specializes in caring for abandoned reptiles, according to the county Department of Animal Services.

“The snake scared the living daylights out of us, but we truly hope he gets the care he needs and can be placed in a good home,’ said Holly Wells, who also works at the company. “And I also hope that the new owners of that home know how to keep their toilet seat lids down.”
