Bank Robber photo named “mugshot of the year”

A US police photograph of a man arrested after he allegedly fled a bank robbery has been described as “the world’s happiest mugshot”.

Michael Whitington didn’t appear to be too upset about being busted after his arrest. His mug shot shows the 45-year-old man with a big, toothy smile on his face.

Whitington allegedly robbed a bank on Denver’s 16th Street pedestrian mall and then tried to escape by jumping on the light-rail train.

Police officers stopped the train a few blocks away from the bank and placed Whitington under arrest.

ABC7 in Denver reports that Whitington is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. His bail was set at $5,000.
