Amy Poehler : Star Loses Lead Actress in a Comedy Emmy to Friend Julia Louis-Dreyfus

Once again, Amy Poehler didn’t win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series at the 2015 Emmy Awards on Sunday evening — that honor went to Julia Louis-Dreyfus for the fourth straight year — but she certainly won the category in another way.

Julia, 54, took home the coveted statuette for the fourth year in a row for her role as Selina Meyer on Veep. The actress has starred on the hit HBO political comedy since 2012.

The former Seinfeld actress also previously won the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy for her starring role on The New Adventures of Old Christine in 2006.

Amy was first nominated for the coveted award in 2010 for her portrayal of Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation. She is additionally up for three other Emmys during tonight’s broadcast; Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special and Outstanding Special Class Program for the 2015 Golden Globes and Outstanding Comedy Series for Parks and Recreation.

Julia beat out fellow nominees Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Lisa Kudrow (The Comeback), Amy Schumer (Inside Amy Schumer) and Lily Tomlin (Grace and Frankie) for tonight’s award.
