A U.S. Air Force pilot was killed when an F-16 crashed while returning to its base in the Middle East.

The unidentified pilot was killed when the F-16 went down in a non-combat accident, Central Command said in a statement.
Officials did not disclose the location of the incident other than to say it did not occur in Iraq or Syria, where an American-led coalition is fighting against the terrorist-backed Islamic State.
Authorities confirmed only that the crash is under investigation. The pilot’s name will be released after his family is notified.
