Ace Frehley To Release Solo Album “Space Invader” In June

2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Ace Frehley will release “Space Invader,” his first new solo album in five years, via Entertainment One Music on June 24th, 2014.

According to a press release, Space Invader will include at least nine original songs as well as a cover of Steve Miller Band’s “The Joker.” It will be Frehley’s first solo outing since 2009’s Anomaly, which debuted at number 27 on the Billboard 200.

Even though Ace isn’t in KISS anymore he’s still keeping a tight grip on that Spaceman persona:

“Life on Earth has been very good to me, and the body of work I’ve created over the years has withstood the test of time,” Ace announced. “Today I see no obstacles before me and my creativity has never been more fine-tuned. Growing up in an Alien world has enhanced my senses and allowed me to succeed where others would have failed. The best is yet to come!”

In a slightly less hyperbolic mode, Frehley explained in a recent interview that the album is just about finished.

“I’m really excited about this record, because everybody that’s heard the tracks just says they think some of the tracks are even better than Anomaly, and even showing another side of me,” Frehley said. “There’s two songs I’m going to re-track, but I’m doing mostly overdubs. Most of the hard work is over.”
