The Loews Coronado Bay Surf Dog Competition is unleashing the fun with new friends from Unleashed by Petco. Whether catching a wave with a furry friend or seeking fun on the beach with friends and family, this year’s attendees can expect a fun-filled day at the “2013 Loews Surf Dog Competition- Unleashed by Petco.”

This year’s competition—held on June 22, 2013 in a new location in Imperial Beach, adjacent to the pier—is expected to draw up to 40 surf dogs and thousands of spectators from across the U.S.

New activities include:

· Unleashed by Petco Dog Park – a chance for you and your pooch to meet some of Unleashed by Petco’s most experienced trainers, as well as to try out toys from Chuckit! Fetch Games, the makers of fun, functional and innovative play toys
· Loews Coronado Bay VIP Beach Viewing –the newly renovated Loews Coronado Bay invites guests to lounge in a signature Loews Coronado beach chair, stick their toes in the sand and enjoy front row views of the competition. Tickets are $75 per adult and 100 percent of the ticket price will go directly to the ASPCA®
· Puppy Massage/ People Massage – Loews Coronado Bay’s Sea Spa massage therapists will offer complimentary hand massages, while Unleashed by Petco’s staff will be there to help ease tired surf dogs

Now in its eighth year, this popular canine competition is an extension of Loews Hotels & Resorts award-winning Loews Loves Pets program and has become a hugely successful fundraiser for non-profit organizations. For the second consecutive year, the event will benefit the ASPCA® (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). The ASPCA® is the first humane organization established and is a national leader in the areas of anti-cruelty, community outreach and animal health services.
