Two charged after kitten burned at Craven

The RCMP has charged a man and a male youth with causing distress to an animal after allegedly burning a kitten at the Craven Country Jamboree.

According to a Facebook post from the clinic treating the kitten injured at Craven, the kitten was brought onto the grounds, drenched in alcohol, and then lit on fire. At last word, the kitten, named ‘Jamboree’ by clinic staff, was doing well and was comfortable on pain medications.

The two, who are not being named, appear in court in September.

Festival spokeswoman Kim Blevins said that individual was kicked out of the festival.

“We’re extremely disappointed that one of our fans would stoop so low,” Blevins said. “I think it was someone that made an incredibly bad decision. We don’t condone any sort of violence against people or animals.”
