A Tim Hortons employee is being accused of taking the company’s ‘Always Fresh’ motto a bit too far, hurling scalding hot coffee, Timbits, and allegedly a racial slur, at a drive-thru patron at a Michigan location.
It all started when the customer asked a Tim Horton’s employee to throw away his old coffee cup. She refused to do that, and that’s when things got heated. The video then shows the employee hand the customer the fresh cup of coffee, but he refused it.
As the customer drove away, a 19-year-old male employee started throwing hot coffee. The employee is shown screaming through the drive-thru window.
Then, according to the customer, the employee started screaming racial slurs.
The customer then came back and threw cold coffee at the employees. He is now suing over the incident.
Tim Horton’s released this statement on the incident: “Guest safety is of paramount concern to Tim Horton’s. We were aware of the incident in October and the franchisee has taken the appropriate steps to address the matter.”
