Teresa Robinson : Girl, 11, killed in apparent bear attack

Homicide has not been ruled out as the cause of death of Teresa Casandra Robinson, the 11-year-old Manitoba First Nation girl who community members had believed was mauled by an animal.

Chief Superintendent Scott Kolody says officers are in Garden Hill First Nation and continue to investigate Teresa Robinson’s death.

“I know there is much discussion about how Teresa died. As investigators we have to deal with the facts and these facts are as follows. At this standpoint we do not have a confirmed cause of death.”

Initial reports suggested the girl might have been mauled by a wild animal, but Kolody says RCMP have not been able confirm that or rule out homicide.

He says an autopsy is being conducted on Wednesday.

Robinson disappeared last week after leaving a birthday party on the reserve, May 5th and her body was found by searchers on Monday.
