Small Explosion at UNB lab in Fredericton injures 2

An explosion was reported at the University of New Brunswick’s Fredericton campus on Monday morning, two are reported injured.

The explosion was contained to one room in the Enterprise Building, a research facility. City spokeswoman Alycia Morehouse said a “small glass vessel of some sort” exploded and the chemicals involved were non-volatile. No flames were produced.

Two researchers were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No students were hurt.

The building was temporarily evacuated after the blast, Morehouse said.
The fire department is currently cleaning up the scene.
