School shooting : Two people shot in Toronto’s northwest

One person is dead and another has been rushed to hospital in critical condition after a shooting near a high school in the Islington Avenue and Dixon Road area.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. near Dixon and Islington and the School of Experiential Education. The school has been around since 1971 and has grades 9-12. It is described as a small alternative school with smaller class sizes.

Both victims are described as males in their late teens or early 20s.

Schools in the area have been locked down or placed in hold and secure as a precaution.

School of Experiential Education is on lockdown as a result of the police investigation, while Kingsview Village JS, Valleyfield JS, St. Maurice elementary and Don Bosco high school are in hold and secure.

One person is in custody. Police are looking for further suspects.
