Saskatoon woman dead after being struck by semi in Saskatoon

A 40-year-old Saskatoon woman is dead after getting hit by a semi-truck unit last night.

Two female pedestrians were hit by the truck around 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Davidson Crescent, which is just north of 33rd Street and Circle Drive.

The 40-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. A 31-year-old woman was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe an altercation between the male semi driver and three women—the 40-year-old, the 31-year-old and another 27-year-old. The women were outside the semi at the time.

A neighbour was visiting with friends when he heard an argument down the street.

“I looked out and there was a couple arguing about two doors down. Mostly just verbal arguing and screaming,” he described.

“Within a couple of minutes, he was in the truck and backing it up after turning it on.”

Police say the driver drove away from the scene and was found later by police. He has been interviewed by officers and released.

The 27-year-old woman was not hurt.
